The Addicks face Huddersfield at The Valley on Tuesday evening, and Hull visit SE7 on Friday.

Charlton Athletic’s Lyle Taylor celebrates scoring a penalty against Reading with team mates

Lee Bowyer likes to freshen things up for midweek games, and despite the decimated squad at his disposal, he will want to ring the changes again this evening.

The defence ‎is the main area where he could give some players a breather. Tom Lockyer is available again after suspension, and there could be starts for Chris Solly and Naby Sarr.

Lyle Taylor played 45 minutes on Saturday, and the boss may be tempted to try to get an hour from him from the start this evening.

Bowyer will be looking for his team to return to their cohesive, energetic style after their poor showing at the Riverside on Saturday.

That display was so out of character, it seemed as though the after effects of the sickness and diarrhoea bug was affecting them.

Jason Pearce apologised to the travelling fans on Monday:

“Whenever you have a bad performance or a bad result, it’s always good to have a game straight away, so that’s a positive.

“On behalf of the players, I thank the fans that travelled up and apologise for the performance. It obviously wasn’t good enough and they’ve travelled a long away to watch us and support us.

“We’ll do our best as a team and as a squad to try and put that right on Tuesday. We’ll keep fighting and fighting for the shirt and doing our best.”

The game will see Karlan Grant return to The Valley and his pace will be a real threat to the Addicks back line.

Charlton could look line-up like this:

Phillips; Solly, Lockyer, Sarr, Purrington; Ledley, Cullen, Pratley, Morgan; Taylor, Bonne.

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Oshilaja, Pearce, Vennings, Doughty, Leko, Davison.

Premier League whistler, Graham Scott from Oxford, will be the man in the middle.

Huddersfield are likely to be without eight of their first team squad.

Charlton need to make the most of this opportunity to end their eight match winless run.
