The Frederic Bulot saga finally came to a conclusion on Monday when Stade de Reims confirmed they had signed the winger on a two-year deal.
The Bulot story had rumbled on for most of the summer, with him joining Charlton seemingly a formality. Cracks in the story appeared towards the end of last week and on Friday, Reims were quoted as being interested in the wide man.
The Addicks had to quickly withdraw a story they had posted on the club website when Reims’ interest became public.
The Gabonese international was in the stands at Welling on Saturday but completed his switch to Reims on Monday morning.
It remains a mystery why the deal to bring the player to Charlton was not completed while Standard Liege were still under Roland Duchatelet’s ownership.
Guy Luzon may soon have a new addition to his squad though. The South London Press’ Richard Cawley Tweeted on Monday afternoon that the Addicks were closing in on a new signing.
No name or details were given, but the player is expected to travel to Belgium with the squad.
