The first round proper of the FA Cup is played this weekend and there will be some interest for Addicks fans.
Towering central defender, Yado Mambo, has been given permission by Charlton to play for AFC Wimbledon at York on Saturday. Mambo, who has yet to appear in a league game for the Addicks, is currently on loan at Kingsmeadow. With his contract at The Valley due to expire in the summer, Mambo could be eyeing a permanent move to the Dons.
One Charlton loanee who will not be in action this weekend is Leon Clarke. The Addicks turned down Scunthorpe’s request to play the striker at Gillingham.
There have been rumours that Clarke is interesting a couple of clubs and a permanant deal away from The Valley may be in the offing come January. Chris Powell has made it clear that the much travelled striker has no future at Charlton so he is not being kept available for the club’s entry into the competition in January.
Scott Wagstaff is another temporarily plying his trade elsewhere. The winger is currently at Leyton Orient but there are no reports of the Brisbane Road outfit requesting permission to use Wagstaff in their FA Cup campaign. Any such request would almost certainly be turned down.
