Charlton face a vital eleven day spell if they are to avoid the ignomy of relegation to League 2 for the first time in their history.
They will play three successive games at home, before travelling to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Saturday week.
Scunthorpe are the visitors on Tuesday, followed by Walsall on Saturday and Bradford City next Tuesday.
Karl Robinson needs to instill belief and confidence in his team if they are to avoid a nail biting end to the season.
The Addicks have gone eight games without a win, but third placed Scunthorpe are on a similar run. The Iron have drawn three and lost three of their last six encounters. Saturday’s home loss to Fleetwood saw Uwe Rosler’s side leapfrog them into an automatic promotion place.
Saturday’s visitors, Walsall, are in reasonable form and have climbed into the top half of the table.
Bradford City are also going well, and are currently fifth in the table. It would be a surprise if Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United do not win the league, and any sort of result at Bramall Lane would be a bonus.
It could be that the Scunthorpe game will be Charlton’s best chance of recording a win.
If their poor form continues, they could face the prospect of needing to win three of their last seven games to survive.
A number of the teams below them will play each other this week, so a win over Scunthorpe is essential if the Addicks are to avoid sliding further down the table.
The Valley will be a tense place on Tuesday evening.
