Nicky Ajose has returned to The Valley following his loan spell at Bury. Ajose did not impress during his stay at his home town club.
He went to Gigg Lane on a season long loan but the Shakers have sent him back early, though they will continue to pay his wages.
Ajose is likely to be sent out on loan again, despite Charlton’s dearth of strikers. Though it has to remain a possibility that Karl Robinson could reintroduce him to the fold if he impresses during training.
The manager appeared to leave the door ajar when he spoke to the press on Thursday:
“Bury are still paying Nicky’s wages but he is back training with us this week and maybe next week while we decide what the future is for him.
“That’s it really and he won’t be involved on Saturday. He has to work hard and people have to prove themselves to me now,” said Robinson.
The manager is likely to have Chris Solly and Tariqe Fosu available for the Walsall game on Saturday, but Jake Forster-Caskey may miss out.
Robinson may also have Crystal Palace’s 22-year-old winger, Sullay Kaikai, as an option for the game.
Lambeth born Kaikai is expected to complete a temporary move to The Valley on Friday.
The Addicks could line-up something like this:
Amos; Solly, Konsa, Lennon, Dasilva; Kashi, Aribo, Marshall, Reeves, Mavididi, Magennis.
Subs: Phillips, Dijksteel, Jackson, Lapslie, Fosu, Kaikai, Hackett-Fairchild.
The referee will be Scott Oldham from Lancashire.
Walsall sit in mid-table but have had some decent results on the road. Nevertheless. Robinson will expect to take all three points from this game.
