Charlton will need to be at their best if they are to take anything from Saturday’s game with high flying Scunthorpe.
Beset by injuries, Karl Robinson will have to field a makeshift defence, and make do without his top striker, Josh Magennis.
Graham Alexander’s team are currently second in the table, but have drawn one and lost three of their last four away games, so the Addicks are not without a chance.
Declan Rudd was in good form on his return, but will have a different back four in front of him this week.
Chris Solly will be at right-back, and Lewis Page could recover in time to take his place on the opposite flank, but there will be enforced changes in the middle.
Jason Pearce, Patrick Bauer and Harry Lennon are all injured, while Jorge Teixeira is suspended. Roger Johnson is the only fit central defender, so Ezri Konsa will probably have to drop back to fill the void.
Frederik Ulvestad is likely to come in to partner Andrew Crofts at the base of midfield.
If Page is fit, Adam Chicksen is likely to continue on the left of the advanced midfield trio, with Nathan Byrne on the right, and Joe Aribo in the middle. Ricky Holmes may not yet be ready to play 90 minutes.
Lee Novak should be available again, but may not be ready to play 90 minutes after his lengthy lay off.
Charlton do not have a ready made replacement for Magennis, so Robinson may be tempted to play Tony Watt as his front runner.
The Addicks could look something like this:
Rudd; Solly, Johnson, Konsa, Page; Crofts, Ulvestad; Byrne, Aribo, Chicksen; Watt.
