Charlton’s record against Millwall is dreadful. Not only have the Lions won three times as many matches as the Addicks, but it is nearly twenty years since Charlton beat their nearest foes.
Indeed, the Valley side have failed to score in their last five games against Millwall.
Ian Holloway’s side are not in good form, they have only won one of their last eleven fixtures, a 1-0 win over Cardiff at the Den last month.
On the road, the Lions have won just once, securing a 1-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage in August.
The visitors are like to have three former Addicks – Ricardo Fuller, Lee Martin and Danny Shittu – in their starting line-up.
Bob Peeters will have to make late decisions on top scorer, Igor Vetokele, and Frederic Bulot before naming his team.
Vetokele was taken off as a precaution at Reading two weeks ago and did not play for Angola during the international break, so his calf may have recovered sufficiently for him to start.
Bulot was due back in England on Thursday but may have to settle for a place on the bench.
Impressive stopper, Stephen Henderson, will be in goal with Chris Solly, Tal Ben Haim, Andre Bikey and Morgan Fox likely to be in front of him.
Johann Gudmundsson’s creativity will provide one of Charlton’s main threats, and he is likely to be joined in midfield by Yoni Buyens, Johnnie Jackson and Jordan Cousins, though Arsenal loanee, Francis Coquelin, will be pressing for a starting berth.
If fit, Vetokele picks himself and Callum Harriott may tuck in just behind him.
Charlton could start with this team:
Henderson; Solly, Ben Haim, Bikey, Fox; Gudmundsson, Buyens, Jackson, Cousins; Harriott, Vetokele.
Subs: Pope, Onyewu, Wilson, Coquelin, Bulot, Moussa, Tucudean.
The referee will be Graham Scott from Oxfordshire.
These games are always tense affairs for Addicks fans and they will be hoping their team record a long overdue win.
