Guy Luzon has a number of injury problems to deal with as he prepares for Saturday’s visit of Hull.
Definitely ruled out is Reza Ghoochannajhad. while Chris Solly (ankle) and Tony Watt (calf) are doubtful.
Another striker, Zak Ansah, left for a month’s loan stint with Newport County on Thursday, so Luzon’s options up front are limited.
Simon Makienok and Karlan Ahearne-Grant are the only fit senior strikers currently available to the head coach, and neither of them has a Championship goal to their name.
Out-of-favour Callum Harriott has been used as a striker in the past, as has new arrival, Cristian Ceballos.
Johann Gudmundsson has an eye for goal, and is another who could fill in on a temporary basis.
Another option is the loan market, and Leicester’s attacking midfielder-cum-striker, Tom Lawrence, has been rumoured to be on the radar of Blackburn and Brighton, as well as Charlton. Leicester sources suggest that Lawrence will be going out on loan before the weekend, though his destination is unknown.
Hull are looking for an immediate return to the Premier League and will provide the Addicks with a stern test.
Nick Pope will continue in goal, with Patrick Bauer, Alou Diarra and Morgan Fox in front of him. If Solly can not play, Regan Charles-Cook is his most likely deputy.
Gudmaundsson, Jordan Cousins, Ahmed Kashi and Cristain Ceballos may continue in midfield.
Makienok and Ahearne-Grant are the probable front pairing.
Charlton could line-up like this:
Pope; Charles-Cook, Bauer, Diarra, Fox; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Kashi, Ceballos; Makienok, Ahearne-Grant.
Subs: Mitov, Holmes-Dennis, Sarr, Bergdich, Ba, Jackson, Harriott.
The referee will be Tim Robinson of West Sussex.
Such is the confidence within the squad, that despite resources being stretched, Luzon will be hopeful of taking something from the game.
