Charlton play their last home game of the year when Gillingham pitch up at The Valley on Saturday.
The Addicks have had a strong finish to the year, and Lee Bowyer will be looking for a good points haul from the last three games of 2018. After this game, Charlton travel to Coventry on Boxing Day, and Barnsley next Saturday.
Gills striker, Tom Eaves, has particularly impressed Bowyer:
“For me, he (Eaves)is their best player. For someone playing in a side around midtable, that is some going. I have watched his goals and he scores all different types.
“They rely on him a lot and I remember last season he caused a lot of problems. Hopefully now we will be ready for him,” said Bowyer.
The boss will be without Naby Sarr, who is serving a three match ban for the red card he picked up against AFC Wimbledon last week.
But Bowyer does expect to have more options available soon:
“It looks like we could have around three or four back by Boxing Day, or just after. George Lapslie will hopefully be back around Boxing Day, or maybe the game after, and the same with Jamie Ward.
“Karlan Grant as well but we will have to be careful with him because we cannot afford for him to break down. Then Josh Cullen towards the end of January.
“It will be interesting when we have them all back – I won’t know who to pick!”
One player who will be available on Saturday is Darren Pratley. George Lapslie felt dizzy after slipping in training during the week, but has an outside chance of playing some part in this game.
The Addicks could line-up something like this:
Steer; Dijksteel, Bauer, Pearce, Solly; Bielik, Aribo, Reeves, Fosu; Taylor, Ajose.
Subs: Phillips, Stevenson, Pratley, Morgan.Sarpong-Wiredu, Marshall, Hackett-Fairchild.
Surrey’s Charles Breakspear will be the man in the middle.
Despite having a weakened squad, Bowyer will expect to keep the good run going.
