The last of the festive fixtures sees Charlton host Gillingham on New Year’s Day at The Valley.
Karl Robinson could have Patrick Bauer, Jake Forster-Caskey and Leon Best available for the game, though the knock that Harry Lennon took at Wigan on Friday is likely to rule him out.
The transfer window opens on Monday, with Robinson looking to make some early additions to his squad. The manager is looking for two strikers and an attacking midfield player as a priority.
Preston’s Eoin Doyle and Ipswich’s Kiefer Moore – who have impressed in loan spells with Oldham and Rotherham respectively – are high on Robinson’s wanted list.
Doyle’s blood clot problems are likely to sideline him for several weeks, so the manager may have to think again.
The Addicks tried to take Doyle on loan in August, but the player was not interested in a move south, which is another complication.
Moore has been in good form at the New York Stadium, and the Millers are keen to extend his deal.
Mick McCarthy may opt to take him back to Portman Road, so there is work to be done on that deal too.
One deal that could happen quite quickly is Stephy Mavididi. The Arsenal youngster has been on loan with Preston, but the move has not been a success.
A return to The Valley could suit all parties.
Charlton have now gone seven games without a win in League One, and Robinson will be looking to halt the run on Monday.
Bouyed by Friday’s result at Wigan, and with the January fixtures being generally kinder, Robinson will expect his team to be back in the play-off zone by the end of the month.
The Addicks could look something like this:
Amos; Dijksteel, Konsa, Sarr, Dasilva; Kashi, Aribo, Marshall, Holmes, Magennis’ Ahearne-Grant.
Subs: Phillips, Jackson, Forster-Caskey, Lapslie, Reeves, Best, Hackett-Fairchild.
The referee will be Oliver Langford from the West Midlands.
The Valley faithful will be anticipating a good start to the New Year.
