Charlton Athletic v Gillingham preview

Gillingham will welcome Bradley Dack back into their squad for the Easter Monday visit to The Valley.

Following Good Friday’s euphoric 3-1 win against Bristol Rovers at Priestfield, Ady Pennock’s side go to their nearest neighbours full of confidence and looking for another victory.

Having climbed to 17th place in League One, The Gills sit just two points behind their opponents and face an Addicks side that have flattered to deceive this season.

Karl Robinson’s side have had as many issues on the field as they’ve had off it and they picked up a point at Coventry City on Friday, condemning the Sky Blues to relegation.

Andrew Crofts will be no stranger to Gills fans and is expected to line up against his former side, whilst Ady Pennock may keep faith with the eleven that started at Priestfield just a few days ago.

With Dack set to return to the squad, Pennock will have to decide whether he disrupts a side that looked closer to their best against Bristol Rovers.

Defender Zesh Rehman is once again expected to be missing with Gillingham set to take around 2,000 fans to The Valley.

For Ady Pennock, he doesn’t want his side getting ahead of themselves:

“We’re not safe yet. We’ve got to go to Charlton a get a result there,” said Pennock.
“It’s an ideal game for us, being a local derby and we’re taking over 2,000 fans. If we win and results go our way we’ll hopefully be safe.”

A win and The Gills can start to dream of another season in League One. Depending upon other results, a loss and they will be looking over their shoulders going into the final two games of the season.
