After Saturday’s terrific win over Portsmouth, Charlton will be quickly back in action again, when Burton pitch up at The Valley on Tuesday evening.
Many will view the game as a nailed on three points for Lee Bowyer’s team, but it might not be as straightforward as that.
The Brewers took a 9-0 hammering at Manchester City in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, but apart from that, they have not lost on the road since before Christmas.
Also, the Addicks have looked jaded in midweek games in the past, due to the high intensity way they play. And they put in an awful of effort on Saturday.
Nigel Clough’s team were beaten 2-0 at Luton on 22 December, but since then, they are unbeaten in seven away games in League One.
Clough will have the rare luxury of a full squad to pick from, but the Bowyer’s team picked up another two injuries at the weekend.
Krystian Bielik and Jonny Williams both tweaked hamstrings, and are ruled out of this game.
Bowyer is hopeful of having Bielik back for Saturday’s trip to Bristol Rovers, but Williams is likely to be ruled out for two to three weeks.
So it will no walk in the park for Charlton, but nevertheless, Bowyer will expect to. pick up all three points.
His team could look something like this:
Phillips; Solly, Bauer, Sarr, Purrington; Cullen, Reeves, Aribo, Fosu; Taylor, Vetokele.
Subs: Maxwell, Dijksteel, Pratley, Lapslie, Marshall, Parker, Hackett-Fairchild.
Thomas Bramall will be the referee.
It will be a tough game, and the Valley faithful may have to be patient.
