Charlton Athletic 1-1 Walsall
Charlton Athletic 1-1 Walsall
A game lacking in quality and excitement finished all square at The Valley on Saturday afternoon.

Simeon Jackson’s first-half opener for Walsall was cancelled out by Tony Watt’s thumping strike after the interval.
With Josh Magennis unavailable, Karl Robinson opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Andrew Crofts and‎ Frederik Ulvestad anchoring the midfield.
Ricky Holmes, Joe Aribo and Adam Chicksen were the advanced trio, and Tony Watt was the lone striker.
The Saddlers started the brighter of the two sides and spurned a number of early chances. ‎The best fell to Jackson after five minutes, but he skied a Joe Edwards cross over the bar from five yards. Two minutes later,  Aribo had to clear ‎another Jackson effort off the line, following an Edwards corner from the left.
The visitors almost gifted Holmes a goal when they made a mess of clearance.
Walsall took the lead a minute before the interval through Jackson. The striker latched on to a flick on  just ‎over the halfway line, raced in on goal, and coolly slotted the ball past Declan Rudd.
The Addicks suffered more injury woe five minutes into the second period when Ezri Konsa sustained a leg injury.
Johnnie Jackson came on,  Ulvestad ‎dropped back into the back four, and gave an accomplished performance.
Charlton levelled things up just past the hour mark. The Saddlers failed to clear their lines after the ball was pumped in by Adam Chicksen. It eventually found its way to Watt who thumped it across Neil Etheridge and into the far corner.
Substitute, Amadou Bakayoko was teed up by Erhun Oztumer but did not make the most of the opportunity.
For the Addicks, an  Aribo strike was deflected wide, and the game petered out into a draw.
Neither side showed much quality, and a draw was a fair result.
