Chris Powell told me before the game that his squad was down to the bare bones and there are no imminent loanees coming in to boost the squad.
Powell was shorne of injury victims Chris Solly, Leon Cort, Johnnie Jackson, Bradley Pritchard and Yann Kermorgant.
Jackson is suffering from and a groin strain and said he was ‘gutted’ to be sidelined. The skipper will not be fit for Saturday but hopes to return after the international break.
Powell re-jigged his side and shape again. Marvin Sordell partnered Simon Church up front, Church became another injury victim late on.
The gaffer opted for a diamond midfield with Man of the Match, Jordan Cousins, at the base, Callum Harriott at the tip and Mark Gower and Dale Stephens in the middle.
The Addicks gave a performance that was full of energy and verve and they were desperately unlucky not to take all three points.
Forest got off to a flyer. Cousins was penalised for a foul on the the touchline in front of the East Stand. Dead ball specialist, Andy Reid, stepped up to float the ball in at the far post, though Ben Hamer will feel he should have done better.
Charlton were not dispirited by the setback and created numerous chances. Sordell failed to connect with a Wiggins cross, Wilson let fly from distance and Dale Stephens shot over just before the break.
The Addicks deservedly restored parity five minutes after the restart. Wilson’s dangerous low cross was turned in by Sordell.
Charlton continued to press and Cousins hit the post from a left wing Stephens corner and Morrison fired another Stephens corner over at the death.
This was an excellent performance by the Addicks, far better than their recent efforts. The result might not have been quite what Powell hoped for, but the energy and tempo of the side will have delighted him.
The downside was the injury to Church but that apart, he will be a happy man.
