Charlton and Forest shared the spoils after a hard fought 1-1 draw at The Valley on Tuesday evening. Albert Adomah’s aecond-half shot cancelled out Lyle Taylor’s sensational opener for the Addicks.
With another game on Saturday, Lee Bowyer rang the changes to freshen his team up.
Deji Oshilaga and Naby Sarr came into defence, with Chris Solly ruled out, and Jason Pearce dropping to the bench.
Sam Field and Erhun Oztumer replaced Darren Pratley and Jonny Williams – who were both on the bench – in midfield.
Bowyer started with his favoured diamond midfield. Field was at the base, Oztumer at the tip with Josh Cullen and Conor Gallagher in the middle.
The hosts played some terrific one touch football, and dominated the first-half, but it was a more even contest after the break.
The game started at a frenetic pace, with Charlton playing their usual neat passing game. Oztumer was looking sensational on his debut.
The Addicks took a deserved lead after 18 minutes, with an early Goal of the Season contender.
It was a real team goal that comprised no fewer than 22 passes. It ended with skipper for the night, Taylor, glancing in Jonathan Leko’s fizzed cross.
Forest came closest to scoring right at the end of the half. Lewis Grabban was clean through but was foiled by a terrific last ditch tackle by Tom Lockyer.
The visitors snatched an equaliser 12 minutes from time when substitute Albert Adomah netted from a corner.
A highly entertaining game, but one which Bowyer may feel his team should have taken all three points from.
