Jose Riga secured a point on his return to The Valley. Harry Lennon opened the scoring, with a Stephen Henderson own goal levelling things up for Rovers in stoppage time at the end of the first-half.
Riga went with his favoured 4-4-2 shape. Jorge Teixeira partnered Harry Lennon in central defence, with Morgan Fox returning at left-back.
Zarkaraya Bergdich came in on the left side of midfield, and Tony Watt and Igor Vetokele were the front runners.
The Addicks put together some good early moves. Watt’s cross from the left was just too far ahead of Vetokele, and a sweeping move involving Jackson, Fox and Watt ended with Johann Gudmundsson firing over from the edge of the box. And Teixeira should have done better with a free header from a corner.
Blackburn had their moments too, Corry Evans having their best chance when he jinked through and fired across Stephen Henderson but narrowly wide.
Charlton took the lead after 30 minutes. Gudmundsson swung a corner in from the right
which eventually fell to Lennon. The centre-back stabbed it home with the help of a deflection.
Rovers levelled in stoppage time to deny the Addicks an interval lead. A right-wing cross was headed on by Jordan Rhodes. Henderson parried the effort on to his left-hand post, but unfortunately the ball rebounded back, hit the keeper and went in.
The second half was a fairly even affair, with a Hope Akpan effort being the visitors’ best chance, and Vetokele going closest for Charlton.
Teixeira had a solid debut, and both Bergdich and Watt will be pleased with their contributions. Bergdich was lively going forward, and Watt displayed his trademark dribbling and jinking skills.
Riga will be pleased that his side arrested the glut of goals they have conceded recently, and will now focus on the vital clash at Rotherham next week.
