Goals from Igor De Camargo and Imoh Ezekiel were enough to condemn Charlton to defeat in their first match in the Stayen Cup.
The Addicks fielded a young team and there were starts for new boys Yoni Buyens, Franck Moussa and trialist, Tomasz Cykwa.
Nick Pope was called on to make a good save from a free-kick after 12 minutes. Pope dived to his left to tip the ball round the post.
Five minutes later, Liege were in front. Good work on the left by the impressive Imoh Ezekiel allowed him to drive into the area. He cut the ball back to present Igor De Camargo with an easy chance to fire Liege ahead.
Liege had a clear edge in match sharpness and doubled their advantage in the last minute.
Ezekiel again caused mayhem on the left, but this time he took the shot on himself and put the ball in the net to Pope’s right.
Charlton will field a stronger team on Sunday, when they will play St Truiden in a full 90 minute match.
