Profligate finishing cost the Addicks dear against West Ham at The Valley on Saturday afternoon.
Regan Charles-Cook, Simon Makienok and Tony Watt all spurned good first-half opportunities.
Just past the half-hour mark, Watt played Charles-Cook in, but the youngster’s lob went just wide of Darren Randolph’s left-hand post.
Three minutes before the interval, Makienok’s flick from a Morgan Fox cross was diverted narrowly wide.
Two minutes later, Watt latched on to a poor Randolph clearance but put the ball over the bar.
Alou Diarra and Karlan Ahearne-Grant came close in the second period, while Nick Pope had a long range effort to deal with.
Ahmed Kashi came on in the second-half but Cristian Ceballos and Zakaraya Bergdich were not involved.
Guy Luzon will pleased with how his team coped with higher league opposition but will be looking for more clinical finishing from his front men.
