A game of quite stunning mediocrity deservedly ended in a 0-0 draw. Clear cut chances were at a premium, and there was precious little to warm the crowd on a bitterly cold afternoon.
Karl Robinson made three changes from the team that lost at Blackpool on Tuesday. Chris Solly and Lewis Page were sidelined with injuries, and Michal Zyro dropped to the bench.
Ezri Konsa switched to the right side of the defence, Naby Sarr came in at left-back, and Mark Marshall returned to the starting line-up.
Fleetwood had not won any of their previous ten games coming into the match, and had failed to keep a clean sheet in 2018.
It was a game between two poor sides on current form. Fleetwood extended their winless streak to eleven, and Charlton have now scored just one goal in their last four outings.
Robinson did change to a 4-4-2 shape on the hour mark in an attempt to make the breakthrough. Nicky Ajose and Zyro came on for Josh Magennis and Ben Reeves, but the change made little difference.
The Addicks started brightly, with Reeves and Tariqe Fosu looking lively, but they fizzled out.
Fleetwood came closest to scoring when Jack Sowerby forced Amos to save with his feet, but Ashley Hunter failed to score with the follow up.
The result effectively ends Charlton’s chances of making the play-offs.
