Queens Park Rangers’ left-back, Yun Suk-Young, will make a loan switch to The Valley next week.
The 26-year-old South Korean international has had a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, and now finds his path back to the first team blocked by former Addick, Paul Konchesky.
Yun becomes the fifth defender to arrive at the Valley since January, Roger Johnson, Jorge Teixeira, Rod Fanni and Marco Motta being the others.
The squad is crying out for a creative midfielder and a genuine goal scorer. It remains to be seen if attacking reinforcements will arrive in the near future.
Rod Fanni got his first taste of The Valley on Saturday. He did bleep tests with Laurence Bloom ahead of the Cardiff game.
Another recent arrival, Yaya Sanogo, was on the bench and made a late cameo appearance.
The Bluebirds carried more of an attacking threat, and twice hit the woodwork through Joe Ralls and Anthony Pilkington.
Pilkington had the ball in the net just before the half-hour mark, but was clearly offside.
Sammy Ameobi was fortunate not to receive a second yellow card late on. He encroached to stop Charlton taking a quick free-kick. Iain Williamson opted to give the winger a ticking off instead.
Ameobi failed to heed the warning, and when he put the ball in the net after the referee had blown for offside, Williamson had little option but to send him off.
The Addicks lost Johnnie Jackson and Jordan Cousins to injury in the second half. Cousins twice went down with what looked like a hamstring problem.
Cousins eventually had to be replaced, and the midfielder may have been wiser to have come off earlier.
Reza Ghoochannejhad had Charlton’s best chance, but blazed high and wide.
Simon Makienok also went close, but Jose Riga’s side could not fashion a win, and now have a mountain to climb if they are to preserve their Championship status.
Bristol City beat Ipswich at Ashton Gate, and Milton Keynes snatched an unlikely win at Derby, leaving the Addicks six points from safety with an inferior goal difference.
Bolton’s defeat at Brighton meant the point was enough to relegate them to the bottom of the table.
Bristol City play Milton Keynes next Saturday. Charlton need to win at Fulham to put pressure on those immediately above them.
