Chris Powell unsurprisingly fielded an unchanged team for the visit of Blackpool. The Valley

Bradley Pritchard was passed fit and was on the bench at the expensive of Jordan Cook, in the only change to the eighteen involved against Nottingham ForestĀ on Tuesday.

Paul Ince’s side were pragmatic and the Addicks always struggle when the opposition do not allow them to play.

Chris Powell continued with a diamond shaped midfield, whilst Paul Ince opted for a Christmas tree formation.

The game was a poor spectacle with chances at a premium. Ben Hamer had to make a routine save from a Ricardo Fuller header and Matt Gilks had to turn a rasping drive from Jordan Cousins round the post. Other than that, the two keepers really only had set piece deliveries to deal with.

The 0-0 score line ended Charlton’s long wait for a clean sheet in the Championship at The Valley. The last visitors to fail to score were Peterborough last November. It was also the first time the Addicks had kept a clean sheet this season.

The result saw Charlton fall to 21st spot in the table as they head into a two week break because of the World Cup fixtures.

They will return to action in a fortnight’s time at Blackburn, with Wigan being the next visitors to The Valley.
