Charlton fielded a strong team in the Under-21 game against Bristol City at Sparrows Lane on Monday afternoon.
The Addicks had to come from behind to draw 1-1, with the goal coming from Jack Munns who was set up by Piotr Parzyszek.
The first team have a huge game with Yeovil at the Valley on Tuesday. Charlton cruised into a 2-0 lead at Huish Park in December but were pegged back and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
The Glovers have no problems scoring goals but their porous defence has let them down this season.
There is a full round of Championship matches on Tuesday and the other struggling clubs look to have tough matches, giving the Addicks the opportunity to pull away from the bottom of the table.
Barnsley will entertain Burnley, Millwall travel to Wigan, Blackpool host Derby, Birmingham go to Middlesbrough and Doncaster face Bolton at the Keepmoat.
Despite Ishmael Miller walking out on Yeovil following a dispute with manager Gary Johnson, the Somerset outfit recorded 2-1 win at Blackpool on Saturday, to move three points behind Charlton.
Given the frailty of the Yeovil defence, Jose Riga may opt to play a more expansive game from the start.
James Hayter and Manchester United youngster, Tom Lawrence, will be up front for the visitors. Riga will play Ben Hamer in goal with back up on the bench again being provided by Dillon Phillips.
The back-four is likely to be unchanged, though Richard Wood will be pressing for a start. Jordan Cousins, Diego Poyet and Johnnie Jackson are probable starters but Danny Green’s hamstring tweak will keep him out again.
Astrit Ajdarevic could again start but Callum Harriott could be the one to make way if Riga wants to play two out-and-out strikers.
Jonathan Obika may be recalled and could be partnered by either Reza Ghoochannejhad or Marvin Sordell.
The Addicks could look like this:
Hamer; Wilson, Morrison, Dervite, Wiggins; Cousins, Poyet, Jackson, Ajdarevic; Obika, Sordell.
Subs: Phillips, Fox, Wood, Petrucci, Harriott, Church, Ghoochannejhad.
The referee will be Graham Scott from Oxfordshire.
Charlton have been blighted by a chronic lack of goals all season and are the lowest scorers in the entire Football League. Yeovil’s weakness is at the back and Riga will be looking to exploit that weakness.
Both clubs will view the game as a must win fixture but Charlton have won on each of the last three Tuesday and will be hopeful of extending that run.
