Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield have not made the impact on the Championship that recent promoted sides have.
Huddersfield had a brief flirtation in the upper reaches of the table but their form has deteriorated to such an extent that the Terriers parted company with manager, Simon Grayson, this week.
Both Dave Jones and Chris Powell have also been under pressure during the season but have steadied their respective ships to a certain extent. The win at Blackburn propelled the Addicks into the top half of the table, while the Owls are now out of the relegation zone.
Wednesday have used a 4-6-0 formation, with the Addicks adopting a 4-5-1 shape of recent times. The contest promises to be a tight affair and one goal may be enough to decide it.
Manuel Llera has been a regular in the visitors’ side and has chipped in with some useful goals but another Charlton old boy, Jose Semedo, has found himself on the bench recently.
Chris Powell was able to welcome Rhoys Wiggins back to the bench at Blackburn and the metatarsal victim may again watch from the sidelines.
Leon Cort and Danny Haynes have recovered sufficiently well from their hamstring problems to train this week. The duo may also start the match on the bench. Charlton could look like this:
Hamer; Solly, Taylor, Morrison, Evina; Wilson, Pritchard, Stephens, Jackson, Wagstaff; Kermorgant.
Subs: Button, Cort, Wiggins, Green, Haynes, Fuller, Wright-Phillips.
Graham Salisbury from Lancashire will be the man in charge.
The Addicks will have to be patient and probe for an opening but if they are, they may avenge December’s defeat at Hillsborough.
