A much improved display going forward by the Addicks at Huddersfield on Tuesday but defensive frailties saw them concede three goals.Charlton Athletic

Leicester are in fine form, scoring plenty of goals and play an open, attacking brand of football.

The Foxes have quality forwards such as David Nugent, Chris Wood, Martyn Waghorn and Jeffrey Schlupp in their ranks. The likes of Lloyd Dyer, Ben Marshall and Anthony Knockaert will supply plenty of bullets from wide areas.

Chris Powell was happy that the 3-5-2 formation he utilised at Huddersfield suited his current group of players and hinted that he may retain the system for this game.

Going forward, it worked well but the Addicks still leaked three goals, so it was far from successful defensively. With the full-backs pushed further up, it could be a dangerous ploy against a side with such talented wingers as Leicester.

Also, the system is better suited to Lawrie Wilson and Cedric Evina than Chris Solly and Rhoys Wiggins. Solly has been receiving treatment for a knock but is expected to be fit for the match.

Ben Hamer and Michael Morrison have come under scrutiny recently but both look set to start. Hamer was rumoured to have fractured a finger in training last week and yelped when making a save in the pre-match warm-up before the Doncaster game. His reaction to the shot that brought Huddersfield’s first goal on Tuesday also suggested that he was carrying an injury.

Morrison’s poor run of form stretches back to the end of last season but with Richard Wood picking up an injury on Tuesday, Morrison would have to start if Powell wants to play three central defenders.

Dale Stephens was in the middle of the midfield quintet, flanked by Bradley Pritchard and Johnnie Jackson, but could give way to Mark Gower. Jordan Cousins may be confined to bench duties.

Marvin Sordell netted his first goal for the club, and put in a committed performance alongside Joe Pigott. The duo will probably be replaced by Yann Kermorgant and Simon Church in the starting line-up for this match though.

Powell may field this team:

Hamer; Morrison, Dervite, Cort; Solly, Pritchard, Gower, Jackson, Wiggins; Kermorgant, Church.

Subs: Pope, Evina, Green, Wilson, Cousins, Sordell, Pigott.

The referee will be Darren Deadman from Cambridgeshire.

There will be a two week break after this game due to international fixtures. It will be a tough afternoon for the Addicks and they may have to wait a little longer for their first league win of the season.
