Leeds United will visit The Valley on Saturday for the penultimate home game of the season for Charlton Athletic.

The Valley3

This is one of the games the Addicks have nominated for ‘gold’ status, which means increased ticket prices for fans.

Charlton are not alone in using this system and the criteria for a gold match is usually the size of the away support.

The ever faithful Leeds fans – despite having had another difficult and uncertain season – will again pack the Jimmy Seed Stand.

The Whites are fifteenth in the table, so this will be another encounter where neither side has much to play for.

Like a few teams in the Championship, Leeds have decent away form but find it tougher to win at home. They have won five and drawn one of their last seven games on the road, so the Addicks will be in for a difficult afternoon.

Guy Luzon may make the odd change to freshen his team up.

Stephen Henderson could have a slightly different back-four ahead of him, to the one he had at Bolton on Tuesday.

Chris Solly will probably start again and fit-again, Rhoys Wiggins, is likely to get another outing.

Roger Johnson’s leadership and organisational skills were clearly eveident at the Macron and the former Wolves man looks certain to start again. Joe Gomez – given a breather on Tuesday – may return as Johnson’s partner, though Tal Ben Haim will be pushing the pair for a starting place.

The mercurial Johann Gudmundsson and Jordan Cousins looked assured of starts, with Luzon having to choose between Yoni Buyens and Alou Diarra as Cousins’ partner in the middle, and Frederic Bulot and Chris Eagles for the wide left slot.

Both Tony Watt and Igor Vetokele looked jaded on Tuesday, so Luzon may consider starting with Simon Church or Eagles up front.

Charlton could look something like this:

Henderson; Solly, Gomez, Johnson, Wiggins; Gudmunbdsson, Cousins, Buyens, Bulot; Watt, Eagles.

Subs: Dmitrovic, Fox, Ben Haim, Bikey, Diarra, Lepoint, Church.

The referee will be Cleveland’s Tony Harrington.

Given the league situation of both teams, the result will likely hinge on narrow margins. It would be no surprise if the Addicks recorded their fourth consecutive stalemate.
