Charlton icon, Chris Powell, will bring his out-of-form team to South London on Tuesday evening.
Including the game at The Valley in February, Powell’s team have won just two of their last nineteen games. They have yet to win this season, and have scored just three goals.
Powell favours a cautious approach, and does not have the rapport with the Terriers fans that he enjoyed in SE7.
Guy Luzon will have to find a way to unlock the Huddersfield rear guard, and will be hoping for a less frustrating time than he endured against Rotherham on Saturday.
Everton loanee, Conor McAleny, will be available and Luzon will have to decide whether to give the Toffees’ striker a starting berth, or put him on the bench. McAleny can also play on the flanks, so he gives the head coach options.
Charlton are expected to have all of Saturday’s squad available, so Luzon will have to decide if the influential Simon Makienok’s hamstring is strong enough for an entire 90 minutes.
Igor Vetokele was unwell in the run-up to the Rotherham game, but the Angolan still looks some way short of his best.
The head coach will have to consider his striking options carefully. Another decision for Luzon to ponder is whether to rest Chris Solly.
The Addicks may look something like this:
Pope; Cousins, Bauer, Diarra, Fox; Gudmundsson, Ba, Kashi, Bergdich; Makienok, Watt.
Subs: Mitov, Sarr, Jackson, Kennedy, Ahearne-Grant, McAleny, Vetokele.
Surrey’s Charles Breakspear will be the man in the middle.
Powell will be desperate to halt his team’s slide, but Charlton should too much in the locker. The Addicks will be confident of taking all three points.
