Charlton Ath v Huddersfield Tn Preview

Almost a year ago to the day, Huddersfield lost their long unbeaten run to Charlton in a match televised by Sky.

A few months later, Lee Clark was sacked with former Leeds boss, Simon Grayson, taking over. Grayson steered the Terriers to promotion via the play-offs and of the three promoted teams, Huddersfield have made the best start.

Charlton will be hoping to build on their recent good form and with two home games in four days, Chris Powell will be hoping to reach the fringes of the play-off zone.

The manager will have some decisions to make with players being available again after illness and injury.

Ben Hamer will have his recent back-four of Chris Solly, Leon Cort, Michael Morrison and Dan Seaborne in front of him, though Rhoys Wiggins will soon be available again.

The midfield will be harder to predict. Eggert Jonsson came in for illness victim, Dale Stephens, at Burnley but failed to impress. Stephens has recovered and will claim one of the central berths. Johnnie Jackson has fared better since being switched to the centre but faces competition from Arsenal loanee, Emmanuel Frimpong, for a central berth. One option may be to push Jackson out to the left with Salim Kerkar dropping to the bench.

Lawrie Wilson will soon be back in contention for the wide right spot but Powell is likely to stick with the energy of Bradley Pritchard, though both Danny Green and Scott Wagstaff are available.

The pace of Danny Haynes has made a huge difference to Charlton’s attacking threat and Powell will be hoping he can stay fit. Rob Hulse has been a great focal point but both Ricardo Fuller and Yann Kermorgant and now available again.

Fuller still looked short of full match fitness at Turf Moor and may again be introduced from the bench. Powell may decide to give Kermorgant another run out in the reserves before restoring him to the first team.

Charlton could start with this line-up:

Hamer; Solly, Cort, Morrison, Seaborne; Pritchard, Stephens, Pritchard, Jackson; Hulse, Haynes.

Subs: Button, Taylor, Dervite, Green, Kerkar, Fuller, Wright-Phillips.

The referee will be Lee Collins from Surrey.

High winds and torrential rain are forecast for Saturday so the game could be decided by which team adapts to the conditions the best.

Weather aside, the Addicks will be in confdent mood as they seek to repeat the victory of a year ago.
