Charlton Ath v Huddersfield T Preview

Since losing their fourth round FA Cup game with Charlton, Huddersfield have won three and lost five of their eight league games. The Valley

The Addicks will have this match targeted as one where they need to take three points if they are to avoid relegation to League One.

Charlton have fellow relegation battlers, Barnsley and Yeovil, to entertain at The Valley and they still have to visit Millwall on Saturday and Blackpool on the last day of the season. New boss, Jose Riga, will want to take maximum points from these games.

Trying to predict the team is nearly impossible as it is unclear who will pick it for Wednesday’s game. But as Powell fell out with Duchatelet over team selections, it would be no surprise if more of the recent arrivals featured.

Possibly, Charlton look something like this:

Thuram-Ulien; Nego, Dervite, Wood, Wiggins; Wilson, Poyet, Cousins, Ajdarevic, Harriott; Ghoochannejhad.

Subs: Hamer, Fox, Morrison, Green, Jackson, Church, Sordell.

The referee will be Brendan Malone from Wiltshere.

The players would have been deflated by the manner of Sunday’s defeat at Bramall Lane and the upheaval caused by Chris Powell’s sudden departure is hardly the perfect preparation for this game.

Jose Riga will be desperate to start his rein with some sort of result. The fans will be demanding a win.
