Charlton Ath v Doncaster R Preview

Trailing 3-0, everyone bar the 626 Doncaster fans were yelling for Lee Collins to abandon the original match in August. The Valley

Following a near half-hour break, the match recommenced, Simon Church reduced the arrears to 3-1, Paul Keegan was sent-off to reduce Doncaster to ten men and Charlton fans were thinking that maybe, just maybe, they could turn things around.

They never did find out though, the match was correctly abandoned at half-time.

Doncaster climbed five points clear of the drop zone after beating Yeovil 2-1 at the Keepmoat on Friday.

Rovers have injury worries and will be without Dean Furman at The Valley, following the midfielder’s red card against the Glovers.

Rovers have recruited Federico Macheda on loan for a second spell at the club and manager, Paul Dickov, is hoping to bring in two more loanees ahead of kick-off at The Valley.

Dickov normally plays 4-5-1 and Chris Powell may well line his team up in the same way. Powell will have a decision or two make and may give Yann Kermorgant a start in place of Simon Church. Callum Harriott is another who could return to the starting line-up, in place of Bradley Pritchard who struggled at Loftus Road.

Charlton could start with this line-up:

Hamer; Wilson, Morrison, Dervite, Wiggins; Harriott, Stephens, Cousins, Jackson, Stewart; Kermorgant.

Subs: Alnwick, Evina, Wood, Pritchard, Hughes, Church, Sordell.

Simon Hooper from Wiltshire will take charge of proceedings.

This is a game the Addicks really need to win and they will strive to put Doncaster on the back foot from the first whistle. If they can do that, they have every chance of picking up a rare home win.
