Despite the torrential rain, there are no anticipated problems with Charlton staging the Boxing game with Brighton.
Unusually, Brighton have not sold their full allocation of tickets and their fans will be able to pay on the day. Travel will be difficult of course but the Seagulls certainly will not lack support.
Oscar Garcia’s side got off to a sluggish start to the campaign but are currently on a run of two wins and a draw from their last three games.
Charlton have failed to win any of their last five games, though they have shown improved form in their last two away game. Unfortunately, they have squandered leads in both.
Form at The Valley continues to be a concern and Powell will have a minimum of four points targeted for the back-to-back home games with Brighton and fellow strugglers, Sheffield Wednesday.
Johnnie Jackson will serve the final game of his three match suspension. Powell will probably have been sufficiently impressed with the performance at Bolton to start with the same side, unless there are any late injury concerns. Charlton could start with this team:
Alnwick; Solly, Morrison, Wood, Wiggins; Wilson, Cousins, Stephens, Stewart; Kermorgant, Church.
Subs: Pope, Evina, Dervite, Green, Hughes, Pritchard, Sordell.
The referee will be Mick Russell from Hertfordshire.
Consistent form at the Valley is long overdue and now would be a good time to start.
