Barnsley currently languish at the bottom of the Championship table, five points adrift of safety.
They have yet to win a game since sacking David Flitcroft and bringing Danny Wilson back to Oakwell.
Their away form is poor, they have won one and drawn three of their twelve fixtures on the road.
Chris Powell will be anxious for the three points to put some distance between his team and the relegation quagmire.
Powell’s squad has been weakened since the New Year’s Day game at Ipswich. Cameron Stewart’s loan deal expired and the tricky winger has now joined Leeds.
Marvin Sordell pulled up with an injured hamstring at Portman Road and will be out for several weeks.
Several new arrivals were anticipated following Roland Duchatelet’s takeover of the club last week, but thus far Arista Ajdarevic is the only new face at The Valley.
The enforced rest caused by last week’s postponement of the Oxford game will have helped the players who were carrying knocks.
Ben Alnwick will continue in goal with an unchanged back four likely to be in front of him. Lawrie Wilson’s hamstring should have recovered sufficiently for him to continue on the right of midfield with central duo, Jordan Cousins and Dale Stephens, alongside him. The logical replacement for Stewart on the left is fit-again Callum Harriott. Harriott scored twice and made two goals in the development squad match against Tottenham in the week.
There are few options for Powell up front, so it will be Yann Kermorgant and Simon Church who will get the nod.
Charlton could start with this line-up:
Alnwick; Solly, Morrison, Wood, Wiggins; Wilson, Cousins, Stephens, Harriott; Kermorgant, Church.
Subs: Hamer, Evina, Dervite, Ajdarevic, Jackson, Pigott, Cook.
The referee will be Iain Williamson from Berkshire.
Charlton will be disappointed with anything other than a win from this game.
