Charlton exited the FA Cup at the first time of asking, but it was an eventful afternoon at the Valley.
Tony Watt confirmed he has signed a permanent deal as he entered the stadium. Watt – resplendent in pink boots – joined in with the pre-match warm-up, and was even involved in the starting XI’s final drill, a two touch keep ball exercise.
Watt’s signing is expected to be announced officially in the early part of next week.
Bob Peeters made three changes to the team that lost at Ipswich on Tuesday, Lawrie Wilson and Morgan Fox replaced Chris Solly and Joe Gomez in the back-four, while Simon Church got his first start of the season, replacing Igor Vetokele up front.
There were bench spots for Terrell Thomas, Harry Lennon and Olly Muldoon.
Gary Bowyer made six changes from the Rovers side that faced Middlesbrough in their last outing.

Blackburn started brightly and went ahead after just four minutes, Chris Taylor having the simplest of tasks to head home Ben Marshall’s precision cross.
Johann Gudmundsson added another goal to his growing catalogue of spectacular strikes early in the second half. A free-kick some 25-yards out, was despatched round the wall and beat Simon Eastwood at his near post.
The Valley’s joy lasted just four minutes, before Taylor restored Blackburn’s lead.
Chris Brown crossed from the left to give Taylor another simple finish.
Tom Cairney thundered a shot against the bar from distance, two minutes from time.
Johnnie Jackson, Andre Bikey and George Tucudean all had chances during the course of the afternoon, but Rovers were able to see the game out comfortably following Buyens’ red card.
