Goals from Dominic Poleon and Tyrone Barnett saw the visitors stage a second half comeback to snatch all three points for the Dons, and end Charlton’s six match unbeaten run.
Richard Murray attended the match after recently undergoing surgery.
It was a bitterly disappointing end to a game that started so well for the Addicks. Ademola Lookman gave the hosts an eighth minute lead, and they went on to dominate the first half.
Russell Slade named an unchanged team with skipper, Johnnie Jackson, returning on the bench.
Wimbledon keeper, James Shea, was in inspired form and produced a string of fine saves to frustrate Charlton.
Lookman drifted in from the left, and fired home from the edge of the box after eight minutes, to give Slade’s side an early lead.
Lookman, Ricky Holmes, Nicky Ajose and Josh Magennis all had decent chances to put the Addicks’ further ahead. But they went in with just a single goal advantage at the interval, when really they should have been out of sight.
Wimbledon gradually got into the game in the second period, and had the inspired Shea on hand to repel Charlton’s attacking sorties .
The alarm bells started ringing twelve minutes from time, when Poleon levelled things up for the Wombles.
Cutting in from the left, Poleon scored from close range. Seven minutes later, Barnett stood the game on its head, when his thumping header from a right-wing cross secured the points for the visitors.
Substitute, Lee Novak, had the ball in the net deep into stoppage time, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Ajose drew his eighth blank in nine games, and Jordan Botaka – so instrumental in last week’s
late equaliser – will be disappointed not to have got a run out.
The Addicks travel to in form Scunthorpe on Tuesday to play their match in hand. They will have to be more clinical in front of goal if they are to take anything from the game.
