Chris Solly was ruled out of the Blackpool game, and Charlton’s injury crisis worsened still further during the afternoon. Leon Best picked up a knock and limped off in the second-half.
Karl Robinson brought Anfernee Dijksteel in at right-back, Naby Sarr in central defence, and Joe Aribo and Johnnie Jackson were the deep lying midfielders.
Josh Magennis dropped back to the left side of the advanced midfield trio, with Leon Best up front, and Ahmed Kashi made a welcome return from the substitutes bench.
Blackpool looked a poor side, but managed to take a share of the spoils, thanks to a late equaliser.
The Addicks went ahead after 15 minutes. Aribo showed great close control in the area, and passed the ball into the net.
Best spurned to great chances to double Charlton’s lead. Just before te half-hour mark, he met Jay Dasilva’s cross with a diving header, but he directed his effort straight at Ben Williams.
Three minutes later, he turned a Magennis cross wide of the post.
The Seasiders rarely threatened; the closest they came to scoring was in the 65th minute. There was a scramble in the area, but they failed to turn the ball home.
The visitors levelled a minute from time. As the ball ping-ponged around the area, Armand Gnanduillet stabbed home from close range.
It was a desperately disappointing and frustrating result for flu victim Robinson, especially with two tough away games coming up.
A trip to Southend on Boxing Day is followed by a trip to Wigan – 7-0 winners at Oxford – next Friday.
