The UEFA Champions League trophies will be coming to Kent this weekend giving football fans the chance to see the prestigious cups.
The two trophies are coming to Kent as part of the build up to the 2013 UEFA Champions league final at Wembley and UEFA Women’s Champions League final at Stamford Bridge.
They will be at the Kent Girls and Ladies’ League finals day at Cobdown Sports & Social Club, Aylesford, on Sunday.
The trophies are presented by adidas, one of the official partners of the UEFA Champions League, as part of their ‘all for this’ campaign with an interactive, walk-through trophy experience that will be on show over the course of the day.
The Kent FA are hosting the Kent Girls & Ladies’ League finals at Cobdown Sports & Social Club and the UEFA Champions League trophy will join the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy on show at the event from 10am.
This is a unique chance to see the UEFA Champions League trophy up close, with the final being held at Wembley Stadium on 25th May as part of the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
The Kent Girls & Ladies’ League finals were chosen to host the trophy tour as the finals day brings together the whole of the grassroots female game in Kent. The Kent Girls and Ladies’ League run all club football for girls in the county under the age of 18, with around 100 teams playing in the league across 8 age-groups.
The finals day will see sixteen Cup Finals played starting at 10am and finishing around 4pm. As well as the Cup Finals, the winners of the girls’ league competitions are presented with their trophies.
The UEFA Champions League and UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies are touring the UK to promote the UEFA Champions League finals programme and both trophies recently commuted across London on the iconic public transport to promote the finals.
The UEFA Champions League trophies’ appearance at the Kent FA on 19th May will also promote the UEFA Champions Festival which will take place in London on 23–26 May.
The free four-day football celebration, featuring a series of family-friendly activities, will be the first major event to come to the home of the 2012 London Olympics since last summer, taking place on The International Quarter close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Everything gets underway at 10am, so arrive early to get your chance of seeing the great trophies.
