The UEFA Women’s Champions League Trophy will be on display at the Kent FA Women’s Cup Final at Greatness Park, Sevenoaks on Wednesday.
The Women’s Champions League trophy will be on show at the Kent FA Women’s Cup Final between Charlton Athletic Reserves and Gillingham FC, where supporters will be able to have photos taken with the trophy and enter a prize draw to win pairs of tickets to the Women’s Champions League final.
Gillingham FC Ladies have showed their scoring prowess so far in the Women’s Cup, beating London Corinthians 7-3 in the opening round before following up with an 8-0 thrashing of Meridian girls.
A 1-0 victory over Ebbsfleet in the semi-finals secured their place in the final tie. Charlton’s reserve side knocked out Gillingham’s second string in the quarter finals before winning 2-1 away to Millwall ladies in the semi-finals.
The Women’s Champions League Trophy will be at the final as part of the promotional tour for the UEFA events in London in May.
The UEFA Women’s Champions League final will be held at Stamford Bridge on 23rd May this year as part of the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations that will also see the men’s Champions League final played at Wembley Stadium.
As well as promoting the Women’s Champions League final, the trophy tour also aims to promote the UEFA Champions Festival, held at the Olympic Park from 23rd to 26th May.
The free four-day football celebration, featuring a series of family-friendly activities, will be the first major event to come to the home of the 2012 London Olympics since last summer, taking place on The International Quarter close to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
UEFA is inviting fans and families to visit the festival and take part in a series of free activities including the opportunity to have photos taken with the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.
Festival attendees will also have the chance to visit the UEFA Champions League museum to experience all the memories of past tournaments with children able to take part in a variety of skills clinics and coaching courses put on by professional coaches throughout the week.
The Kent FA Women’s Cup Final between Charlton Athletic and Gillingham will be played at Greatness Park, Sevenoaks, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
