Charlton have taken twelve of the last fifteen points available and will travel to Cardiff in good spirits.
The Bluebirds – now playing in their traditional blue kit again – won at Rotherham in midweek but have struggled at home recently, taking just two points from their last five games at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff had draws with Brighton and Blackburn sandwiched between defeats by Reading, Derby and Wolves. Nevertheless, this will be a severe test for the rejuvenated Addicks.
Stephen Henderson put a few hearts in mouths when he went down clutching his troublesome shoulder in the second half on Tuesday, but he recovered to carry on. The Irishman should continue in goal.
The defence could have a more familiar look to it on Saturday. Chris Solly and Roger Johnson could again be ruled out but Tal Ben Haim may be fit enough to return.
Guy Luzon may opt to start with Joe Gomez on the right, with Ben Haim and Andre Bikey in the middle. Rhoys Wiggins played in the first half of the Under-21 game in midweek, but Luzon may decide to keep faith with Morgan Fox, who played well against Forest.
Johann Gudmundsson may recover in time to resume on the right side of midfield, with Jordan Cousins, Yoni Buyens and Tuesday’s two goal hero, Frederic Bulot, completing the midfield quartet.
Tony Watt and Igor Vetokele are likely to continue up front.
Charlton could look something like this:
Henderson; Gomez, Ben Haim, Bikey, Fox; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Buyens, Bulot; Watt, Vetokele.
Subs: Dmitrovic, Wiggins, Lennon, Wilson, Diarra, Lepoint, Church.
The referee will be Bedfordshire’s Pat Miller.
Such is the confidence level in Luzon’s team right now, they will expect to take something from the game.
