Captain Tom back with the Dynamos
Captain Tom back with the Dynamos

32 year old forward Tom Davis has become the third player to return to the Invicta Dynamos ahead of the 2022/23 season after confirming his desire to continue with the club and his vital role as Captain, an honour new Head Coach Karl Lennon did not hesitate to bestow him.

Last season saw Davis complete his second term with the club having joined us in 2019/20, prior to covid. He has quickly cemented his position within the team and has shown great loyalty and commitment to the club.

He was one of the most reliable players throughout last season, taking to the ice in 40 of the 45 games played. Throughout the course of the season Davis was called upon to play both forward and defence and this indispensable ability does not go unrecognised and will prove invaluable once again this season.

In those 40 games played, Davis finished the season on a points total of 30, adding 8 goals and 22 assists to his tally. He displayed great strength and stability in a pivotal role.

Davis returns as a player with vast knowledge and experience of the game which is sure to be a great asset for the younger players looking to step up and join the roster.

Throughout his ice hockey career he has had stints at Peterborough Islanders, Romford / London Raiders, Milton Keynes Thunder, Oxford City Stars and the Chieftains and is a product of the Chelmsford Junior system.

The forward has predominantly iced in the NIHL South Division 1 but also made appearances in the EPL and NHL’s second tier. It was with the Raiders where he made his biggest mark – playing 362 times, scoring 88 goals and claiming 156 assists for 244 points whilst also donning the ‘C’ of captain for four years.

Davis displays great leadership skills on and off the ice and it will come as no surprise that he will continue the wear the ‘C’ as Club Captain, a role he relishes.

Speaking on his decision to return Davis said, “”I’m really excited to be back with the Mo’s for my 3rd season. After speaking with Karl numerous times, I knew it was the right move for me to make. Karl sounds to be building a great foundation for the new season and for the future of the club which is one of the main reasons for my return.”

“I feel that with my experience I can really help with the development of younger guys stepping up to the senior level. I’m excited to get going now and with the team Karl is putting together I’m sure we will be surprising a few teams. I’m looking for a strong season start to finish”.

Head Coach, Karl Lennon, did not waste any time in securing the services of Davis and ensured he was one of the first to agree to terms, seeing the value in what he brings to the team as a whole.

On making the signing Lennon stated: “During what was a very challenging season, Tommy really kept our team together throughout. When we spoke during the summer it was very clear to me how much he cared about our great club and that he wanted to help get us back on track. It was a very simple decision that he should retain his position as Captain for the 22/23 season.”

“He’s a fantastic player on the ice leading by example, putting the team always ahead of himself and great in the dressing room with the boys. Absolutely delighted that Tommy will be back next season”.
