Ashford’s Leon Camier will be making the step-up for the 2014 season from World Superbikes to the Moto GP Championship.
The 27-year-old will be racing in the open class for Ioda Racing in 2014 alongside Danilo Pettruci on an Aprillia backed machine.
Camier has a rich racing pedigree, and was the British Superbike Champion in 2009 winning an impressive 19 races as he took the title.
He then moved up to the World Superbikes where he has spent the last four years before being replaced by current BSB Alex Lowes at Suzuki for the upcoming campaign.
He has clearly put that behind him and moved up and on as he looks to make his mark in Moto GP in 2014.
There will be some tough competition for the Open class title from riders with a rich pedigree from Colin Edwards to Nicky Hayden and fellow Brits Michael Laverty and Scott Redding.
All the British riders will be in action in the UK at the end of August when round 12 of the season heads to Silverstone.
Kent Sports News wish Leon the best of luck for his new ride and look forward to covering his exploits as the season progresses.
