Leon Camier is back competing in the UK this weekend as the eni FIM Superbike World Championship heads to Donington Park.Leon Camier44

It is widely considered by the FIXI Crescent Suzuki as their first home race of the season and they can’t wait to get back on track.

The teams title sponsors FIXI are based in London and the squad are based in the South of England so it is definitely a home race for all involved.

Leon will hoping to be fully fit for the Donington round following the knee injury he sustained earlier in the season, and despite being back on the bike in the last two races, he was not fully fit. However he has been working hard on his fitness and has been back in the gym and is looking to be back fully race fit for this weekend.

Camier’s teammate Jules Cluzel is also back on track and it is one that he enjoys racing on especially after last season. He took pole position in the Supersport class and then took third place in the race. He will hoping to follow that result up with another good performance this weekend.

Cluzel is also recovering from his own incident last time out in Monza, but that won’t affect him on track this weekend.

Donington is one of the favourite tracks for all of the riders and both the FIXI Crescent Suzuki boys will be looking to put on a good show for the British crowds.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s race, Leon said: “I am really looking forward to Donington Park; it’s great to race at home and I’m sure we’ll have a big crowd there to cheer us on. I have been working hard to get fully fit and now hope my injuries allow me to push to 100% and get the FIXI Crescent Suzuki up to where we need to be.

“The GSX-R’s engine performance has improved massively; we now need to focus on getting out of the slow corners cleanly and putting the power to the ground! Donington is one of those tracks where outright speed is not a necessity, so that should be an advantage to us.”

FIXI Crescent Suzuki will start the weekend with practice sessions on Friday and Saturday, which will hopefully see Camier and Cluzel advance to the Superpole on Saturday afternoon where the pair will be challenging for the best grid positions for Sunday’s two 23-lap races.
