Kent’s Shane Byrne will start tomorrow’s MCE British Superbike Championship races at Cadwell Park from second on the grid.Shane Byrne13

Shakey was once again consistent in qualifying but couldn’t quite find the time to oust Alex Lowes from pole position, as rival Josh Brookes crashed out earlier in qualifying three.

Lowes was always going to be hard to beat on the Samsung Honda’s home circuit so Shakey is going to be pleased to be with him on the front row of the grid.

The front row is a bit more important at Cadwell Park compared to some circuits as only the front three bikes line-up on the front row.

The resurgent James Ellison will line-up alongside them on the front row as his Milwaukee Yamaha once again found some good pace.

Brookes who is second in the championship standings behind Shakey will start from seventh on the grid, and could well be the danger man as the racing gets going on Bank Holiday Monday.

Speaking after the qualifying session, Shane said: “Hats off to Alex; that was a great lap. We are about one session behind where we need to be but we have been chipping away over the weekend and to be on the front row for qualifying was already a much better result than last season!

“I am looking forward to the races tomorrow and hopefully there will be another big crowd here as usual to watch all the action.”

You can watch all the action unfold tomorrow live on British Eurosport and see if Shakey can add to the 50 plus victories he already has in the British Superbikes.
