Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne heads to Knockhill for the latest round of the MCE British Superbike Championship this weekend.
Byrne goes into the round on the back of a double victory at the last round from Snetterton and he will be looking to continue his good form this weekend.
Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne continues his defence of his record-breaking fourth MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship title this weekend (3/4/5 July) as the series heads to Scotland for the fifth round of the season at Knockhill.
The four times champ holds a 17 point advantage over the chasing pack ahead of the two races this weekend.
The PBM Kawasaki team have continued their hard work with development during the season and together they have scored an impressive seven podium finishes from the opening eight races, including three victories. Shakey is now eager to continue that momentum in Scotland before the championship then heads back to Kent for his home round of the season at Brands Hatch later this month.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Shakey said: “We had a great weekend at Snetterton, but in BSB you should never count your chickens – although the boss [Paul Bird] generally does! Anything can happen and we need to keep our heads down and keep working hard. Snetterton was exactly what we needed; we have been catching up and the double win was a bit of a relief after not getting one since the first round.
“Knockhill is a completely different ball game compared to Snetterton – it is a lot more intense and you have to perfect over the whole lap to get it right. The PBM Kawasaki team haven’t stood still to be ready for this weekend so we are all set for what I expect to be another two tough races. All I can say is bring on Knockhill because I can’t wait to go racing again!”
