Shane Byrne will be looking for more wins at Silverstone this weekend for the penultimate round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne will bid to regain the lead with just two points separating him from the overall standings leader.
Byrne returned from injury last time out at Assen and rocketed to the top step of the podium which he followed up with a strong second place in race two.
Despite a shoulder injury he fired the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki back into contention and now is ready to challenge for the podium again this weekend to strengthen his position ahead of the final round.
Shakey said: “I am looking forward to Silverstone. Since coming back from Assen I have been flat out with the training and physio as I need to be in the best possible position; not only for this weekend but also the final round at Brands Hatch in two weeks.
“If we can do at Silverstone what we did at Assen then I will be happy. As we saw at Assen though, literally anything can still happen!
“We did a test at Silverstone earlier in the year and of the six Title Fighters we were the only ones there so we don’t have a gauge in that respect, but we know we can improve and go faster and I am fairly confident we can do that almost straight away.
“There is the three or four of us up there for the title fight and we just need to maintain that rhythm. Unfortunately myself and Josh changed positions in the standings after race two at Assen so hopefully we can have a strong weekend to set us up well for Brands Hatch.”
