Experienced defender, Lewis Buxton, is currently training with the Addicks and could be offered a deal at The Valley.
Buxton is 32-years-old, was born in Newport Isle Of Wight, and began his professional career with Portsmouth.
He went on to spend five years at Stoke and seven with Sheffield Wednesday. Released by the Owls in the summer of 2015, he moved on to Rotherham, where he made 20 Championship apparances last season.
A versatile player who can slot in anywhere along the back line, Buxton is likely to feature in the games against Welling on Saturday, and Bromley next Tuesday.
If he travels to Austria with the squad next week, it would be a big clue that Russell Slade intends making him a contract offer.
The Addicks have reportedly turned down an initial offer from Queens Park Rangers for midfielder, Jordan Cousins.
The West Londoners are expected to table an improved bid for the Greenwich born 22-year-old, but Brighton are also in the hunt.
Chris Hughton is believed to be very keen to take Cousins to the Amex, and the Championship rivals could spark a bidding war.
Rumours suggest Charlton are looking for a fee of around £3,000,000.
The Addicks have accepted a bid of £2,500,000 from Burnley for attacking midfielder, Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Add ons could see the fee rise by another £1,000,000.
Reports suggest that Gudmundsson – currently on holiday following his exploits at the Euros wuth Iceland – has agreed personal terms with the Clarets.
Norwich are also interested, but the lure of Premier League football gives the Turf Moor outfit the edge. The deal is likely to be concluded swiftly when Gudmundsson returns to the country.
Precocious teenage attacker, Ademola Lookman, has been called into Aidy Boothroyd’s squad for the Under-19 European Championships.
Lookman made his debut at this level on the Three Lions’ recent trip to Mexico. With pre-season training already in full swing, it means Lookman will scarcely have had a summer break.
Coveted by a host of big clubs, Lookman is another who could exit The Valley before the new season starts.
He is not yet ready for the Premier League, and it is possible Charlton could negotiate a season long loan back to The Valley.
