Friday practice was a slow start, with pace one second slower than the rest of the 63 strong racers in the Rotax semior 162 class. This was due to “old” tyres but after some set up changes and new race tyres it was time for the racing to begin.
In heat one he started P20 but came through to finish in seventh place. The in heat two he started P26 and fought his way through to finish in third place finish on track but a five second penalty placed him in P8.
Heat 3 saw him start in third place and finish on the top step of the podium. The accumulated points from all 3 heats placed Ryan on the first row in P2 to start the final.
This proved to be the most exciting race of the day, with the first four karts all battling for the win. With a great start Ryan was in pole position before the first corner. The competition was fierce and although he dropped to third for a short time he battled hard and retrieved the front spot crossing the line as the round one champion.
