As always, December will be a busy month, Lee Bowyer’s side will play seven times, and they face some really tough games.
Charlton clash with Doncaster in the FA Cup at The Valley on Saturday, before playing six league games – four of them away from home – in three weeks.
They start with two difficult away on the road. They travel to fellow promotion chasers Blackpool on Saturday 8 December, then play the rearranged game with table topping Portsmouth three days later.
The Pompey game will have to be rescheduled again if either side is. Involved in an FA Cup replay.
This is followed by consecutive Saturday home games against local rivals. First up will be AFC Wimbledon, followed by Gillingham on the Saturday before Christmas.
Bowyer’s side finish the year with trips to Coventry on Boxing Day, followed by Barnsley on the last Saturday of the year.
The manager will obviously have to rotate his squad during this busy period, and will be desperately hoping his team do not pick up any further injuries.
Despite the difficulty and intensity of the fixtures, the manager is likely to target a minimum of twelve points as his team head into the New Year.
If they can pick up more than that, confidence will be sky high. Bowyer will also be looking to add one or two new faces in January to freshen his squad up.
