Ademola Lookman and Johann Berg Gudmundsson had to be taken off in the Bolton match, and are the latest players to join the injury list.
Lookman has a slight hamstring strain, caused as much as anything by the recent spate of high intensity Championship games he has played.
Lookman is slight in build, and his body has only been used to playing lower profile academy games. The likelihood is that Lookman will travel, but Karel Fraeye may opt to introduce him from the bench at Turf Moor.
Gudmundsson took a knock to the ankle he rolled at Brighton. He will be assessed on Friday morning but even if he is declared fit, it will be something of a risk to play him.
The head coach will have to decide whether any of his squad need a breather before they embark on the train journey north.
Burnley are having a blip at the moment, they are on a winless run of six games, comprising four draws and two defeats. Lancashire rivals, Preston, inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the Clarets in their last game at Turf Moor.
Fraeye will have Patrick Bauer available again, after the German’s two match suspension. Bauer is likely to slot straight back in at the back, with Alou Diarra reverting to his holding midfield role.
Chris Solly, Harry Lennon and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis will probably complete Stephen Henderson’s defensive shield.
Johnnie Jackson, Jordan Cousins and Reza Ghoochannejhad could join Diarra in midfield.
Fraeye may pair Simon Makienok with Ricardo Vaz Te up front.
The Addicks could look like this:
Henderson; Solly, Bauer, Lennon, Holmes-Dennis; Diarra, Cousins, Jackson, Ghoochannejhad; Makienok, Vaz Te.
Subs: Pope, Fox, Sarr, Gudmundsson, Ba, Lookman, Ahearne-Grant.
Wigan’s Paul Tierney will make the short trip to take charge of the game.
The game is obviously tough, but on a positive note, it may be as good a time as any to play Sean Dyche’s side.
Any kind of result will be a bonus, but the small band of Charlton fans making the trip, will be hoping for an early Christmas present.
