Following the goal-less draw between Welling United and Dartford, Darts manager Tony Burman gave his opinion.

“I didn’t think we did enough to win the game tonight. In all fairness we lacked a little bit of quality in the last third, a little bit of hunger.

“It’s not a thing that I like to say, but having said that, it’s a local derby. We’ve played two games away from home, We’ve got two points, we haven’t lost. Is it enough points? Probably not but we move on.”

Although he hasn’t given up hope of winning the total, he accepts it will be tough. “A lot of things would have to go wrong to do that and a lot of things would have to go right for us to do that. Until it’s mathematically impossible, you don’t give up on anything. We’re where we are and we’re doing alright at this stage of the season. There are going to be indifferent results when the pressure starts to get on to them.

“We should have won on Saturday and we’ve conceded a late goal in injury time. Tonight, a draw was a fair result in my opinion, having said that, I don’t think we’ve done enough to win it.”

Burman felt that the goalkeepers had done all that was expected of them. “Our one (Deren Ibbrahim) has definitely been asked a question and he’s proved what a good goalkeeper he is.”

He accepted that Welling goalkeeper, Chris Lewington had also made one outstanding save “He did really well to deny us when we looked like scoring. They’re the ones that you want to go in but it doesn’t always happen.

“We’re looking to do as best we can. At the moment the players have been brilliant to get this club in the position they’ve got them and we will continue to try and get as high up the league as we can.”
