The Historic Sports Car Club Superprix returns to Brands Hatch this July (12/13), promising a weekend of world-class nostalgic action at one of the sport’s classic venues.Brands Hatch HCC

The HSCC Superprix has long established itself as one of the historic racing calendar’s highlights, featuring a wealth of saloon, GT, sportscar and single seater races, and providing plenty of thrills for spectators of all ages. The lure of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, with a layout that remains true to the challenging character of the tracks during the sport’s halcyon days, means that packed grids are guaranteed.

Headlining this year’s event will be the return of the Super Touring Car Championship after a hugely successful debut in 2013. Featuring BTCC cars from the 80s and 90s, the series recalls a golden era of tin-top racing when manufacturers built spectacular saloons and fought for showroom glory. It’s not just the cars that will be turning back the clock, with legendary competitors John Cleland and Patrick Watts renewing old rivalries on the track.Round 2 of the Touring Car Trophy.

Another spectacle will be the powerful single seaters competing in the Derek Bell Trophy. Grids in this series are dominated by brutal V8-engined Formula 5000 and nimble F2 machinery and even the occasional F1 car.

There will also be separate contests for F2 cars, in addition to Formula Ford, Formula 3, Formula Junior and Classic Racing Cars. Many of the cars carry the names of the sporting legends that raced them in period as they established their careers.www.AE-Photography.co.uk

The Superprix also showcases classic sportscars, with 1970s Le Mans-style prototype action in the Martini Trophy, as well as sports racers from the previous decade in the Guards Trophy races. GT fans can see rare classics compete against old favourites in the Historic and 70s Road Sports races, whilst the Historic Touring Car races recall the early days of the BTCC.

Each race will unfold on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, which for decades has challenged the sport’s best drivers and provided an awe-inspiring sight for spectators. One of the country’s most picturesque venues, it’s the perfect setting in which to revel in motorsport’s glorious history.

Tickets for the HSCC Superprix at Brands Hatch on 12/13 July are available from £18, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or visit www.brandshatch.co.uk
