Former Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown is enjoying life running his Soccer School and is planning to do more in the future.
The 31 year old former Blackburn Rovers and Welsh international is currently between clubs and has set up his own Soccer School, along with working for the Welsh FA as a scout, helping bring through the next generation of goalkeepers, whilst working with Kent based Football Academy, Soccer Elite FA.
Last week, Brown held the first of his Soccer Schools at Southborough Primary School in Bromley and it proved to be a huge success with some big name players making guest appearances.
With the week having been so successful, Brown told KSN how he is already planning the next one for just after Christmas:
“The whole Idea of me doing the Jason Brown Soccer School was to get the kids out from their houses and to do some fun football training.”
“With me not playing at the moment, I’ve been working hard getting my coaching badges (UEFA C, B goal keeping and outfield and my modules), which enables me to do my goalkeeper clinics where I am starting to get a good production of keepers that are at or having trials at professional clubs.”
“You see a lot of soccer schools where people just put on sessions with no real aim. For me, as a parent and coach, I think it is important that as well as the kids enjoying themselves, they and the parent have to see the improvement especially if you are paying.”
“What was also great was that a couple of my friends in football, Kevin Lisbie and Danny Shittu, were able to take some time out from their busy schedule to come and have pictures, sign autographs and answer questions which the kids absolutely loved!”
One of the true measures of any soccer school is the feedback at the end of any course and Jason was pleased to have received the following testemonials for parents:
“Hi Jason. It’s George Thompson’s mum, Firstly I would like to say a BIG thank you to you and Leighton! My son enjoyed every minute of it and he was ill with a cold! That just showed how much he liked and enjoyed it!”
“And the added bonus of other football players was a golden touch for all the kids. I know George would want to come to every soccer school you do. So thank you from a very happy mummy :)))”
“Hi Jason, Zavier loved it, and learnt a lot at the same time, he would definitely be interested in attending again, thanks for putting on a great event for the kids. Kriss ( Zavier’s dad)”
“Hi Jason, My son Joe really enjoyed himself and came back for an extra day….You’re right he was worn out-thanks! Would definitely be interested again but maybe the those dates are a bit too close to Christmas for us, Feb half term and Easter would be great!! Katie.”
With it being such a success, Jason is looking at running a soccer school between Christmas and New Year with the dates yet to be decided.
